The Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Manchester, Łukasz Lutostański, will introduce the film and a Q&A session with the film's protagonist and director, Sławomir Grünberg, will follow the screening.
“Santa Rosa” reveals an unknown chapter in the history of World War II – the fate of Polish deportees into the Soviet Union who found unlikely refuge on Mexican soil. Joanna sets out on a personal journey through her family’s unique past, discovering numerous stories of those whose memories of Santa Rosa remain vivid 70 years later, in Poland, in the U.S., and in Mexico.
